Flattering your Figure
First there is no perfect or correct figure to have. There is the healthy figure, there is the achievable figure, there is the declarative figure and the desirable figure. Every look is a statement of who you are, what you think and a challange to others to appreciate and accept you. Your figure is your work of art, your creation, we are who we make ourselves to be.
Showing who you are, attracting the opposite sex, getting your way, being fashionable, these are the ways we use our bodies. It is with the impact on others, of our presence, that we find acceptance and respect. We must remember that the consumer economy is not our friend in this. It sells most when we are made to feel bad about ourselves; when we choose styles and brands which they wish to make and sell. They try to alter the wonderful assets that nature has given us, and therefor to make us dependent on them. The fashion masters will not select styles that suit your figure, you must select your own, based on your understanding of your figure and its potential impact on others.
Of course one should make the most out of and accentuate the assets you have been given, using basic simple foundation garments and the styles, materials, cuts and lengths that you choose. To do this properly you need to understand the qualities of your figure. We look at famous women and later men who have achieved wonderful looks with figures little different from what you or I have. We will copy the best practice available and get most out of our figures, gain confident, feel and look great.
The Technique
a. Find out what's your current figure type.
b. Decide on the figure type you want.
c. Balance your figure by selecting knickers, underwear, lingerie and swimwear which will give you the profile you want.
Womens Figure Type Basics
Your figure profile is described with a three letter code e.g. AAA, or CBC, or CCB, etc.
1. The first letter is your bust size (A or B or C or D....)
2. The second letter is your waist shape (A -flat no bulges, or B -slightly rounded, or C -full and layered or D -overflowing the waist area, ....)
3. The third letter is your hip shape (A -flat no bulges, or B -slightly rounded or C -full and layered or D -overflowing the hip area, ....)
Your figure type will then be a three letter combination off the bust, waist, and hip letters, in that order.
For instance a figure type BAB has a bra (B size) with a slim flat waist (A shape) widening slightly to a slightly rounded (B shape) hip.
The BAB figure type is one of the most sought after, with its hour glass proportions, its flattering curves and its slim dimensions. For the long legged woman theBAB becomes figure becomes the BABe figure, with an 'e' for the elongated leg; pretty easy to remember!
Another example of the figure type is the AAA (trebble A) figure. It is most often seen with youngish girls and with women with a petite body build. It is often seen on the catwalk, it has less curves than the BABe figure. The curves may be accentuated with the right combination of lingerie and foundation underwear.
Which figure type do you have?
Write down your cup size, a letter size for your waist and your hips, from above. Those three letters describe your natural figure type. You may improve your figure profile with exercise and diet in the long run, but in the short term correct underwear, foundation and outerwear selection will give you the look that you want, immediately.
